lazy mama

Baby S has eaten solid food. Once. A couple of days ago.

It's not because she doesn't want to. Well, she wasn't exactly enamored with eating, but she didn't totally resist it either. Mostly, she was just really into that spoon thingy. Another thing to suck on and play with! She also could not get enough of sitting in the high chair like her big sissy.

No, Baby S has only eaten once for one sad, embarrassing reason: I'm lazy. Lazy, lazy mother.

Food takes time to prepare! Whereas breast milk, well, you know how easy that is- lift shirt up, unsnap bra, latch baby and done. Get a little sit-and-cuddle time. Breast feeding is easy and fast. Solid feeding takes time. Not to mention the dishes that get added to the pile in the kitchen that is always haunting the back of my mind (yes, it's currently niggling at me).

I know I'll get to it eventually. I'll get a regular schedule going and it won't seem so out of place. But for now, at least for today, I'm going to hold onto the exclusively breastfed thing. Six months went by way too fast.

  1. And nothing to clean! Yay! Besides, it's better than anything you could make, anyway. The ONLY reason I introduced rice cereal at 5mos is bc my doctor said it helps avoid the picky eater. My kid is now 4 and she is a picky eater. Humph.

Love your site, btw! Stumbled on it via Twitter. Happy feeding!

  2. I wholeheartedly agree. I'm super lazy, I don't want to clean the baby and the 10ft radius around the baby. I'm also not ready, 6 months DID go by way too fast. I plan to go as long as possible just EBF.

  4. I know what you mean - I felt the same way when Charlotte started on solids at 6 months. The good news is that you're just a couple of months away from finger foods and self-feeding! I just put food on her tray now, and she goes to town!
