"giving up" moments

The "giving up" moments. Everyone has them, and everyone has them more than once. The times when you think, that's it. I can't do this anymore. Send him to run out and buy some formula.

Frustration. The brick wall that we all hit, then back up from, work through, and knock down.

My "giving up" moments:

-Those first weeks when I was constantly wet and sticky from breasts that leaked out of control. Whenever she started sucking on one breast, the other would let loose with a waterfall that soaked everything around it.

-When my right breast grew much larger than my left.

- When I felt like I had been sitting on the couch feeding her for two weeks straight with no break.

-When I had to wake up multiple times in the middle of the night, and he got to sleep for 8 hours straight.

-Pumping 9 times a day trying to build up my milk supply (for 3 months!) when my special needs child was still resisting breastfeeding.

-Not having anywhere "proper" to breastfeed out in public.

-Carrying that damn heavy pump to and from work on the bus every day.

We all have our moments. And we all work past them. What was yours?

  1. When my baby would get upset and unlatch because my letdown was too strong, She would get so upset that she would refuse to eat and yet she was crying because she was hungry. It was about a week of struggling until we both figured out how to work past the issue. Now she just laughs when the stream is too strong because she unlatches and looks to see where the stream falls....lol!
